Wind Ensemble

The University of Mississippi Wind Ensemble, conducted by Randy Dale, is the premiere wind band at the University. Consisting of fifty to sixty performers, the Wind Ensemble performs the very highest level of wind band literature. The Wind Ensemble consists of graduate students, music majors and non-majors and annually tours Mississippi High Schools. The Wind Ensemble performed at the College Band Directors Southern Regional Conference in February 2010.


Symphonic Band

The University of Mississippi Symphonic Band is conducted by Mel Morse. The Symphonic Band consists of approximately sixty members and performs grade four, five, and six literature. In 2007 the Symphonic Band performed a concert with famed composer Eric Whitacre, and in 2010 the band performed at the College Band Directors Association Southern Regional Conference. The Symphonic Band consists of music majors and non-majors.


Concert Band

The Concert Band is conducted by Kevin Cole. The band consists of approximately seventy members comprised of mostly non-music majors. The Concert Band performs grade three and four literature.


University Band

The University Band is for non music majors, music majors performing on secondary instruments, and conducting students. The concert band is intended as a laboratory experience for conducting students prior to student teaching.
